John Connaughton

John (or “JC”) Connaughton is a Managing Director of Bain Capital, a leading global private investment firm based in Boston. He joined Bain Capital in 1989.

He has played a leading role in transactions in the medical, media and technology arenas.

Besides serving on HCA’s board, Mr. Connaughton is also a director of Clear Channel Communications, Inc., CRC Health Corporation, Warner Chilcott, Sungard Data Systems, Warner Music Group, Cumulus Media Partners, Quintiles Transnational Corp. and The Boston Celtics. He also volunteers for a variety of charitable organizations, serving as a member of Children’s Hospital Board of Overseers, The Berklee College of Music Board of Trustees and The University of Virginia McIntire Foundation Board of Trustees.

Mr. Connaughton received a B.S. degree in Commerce with Distinction from the University of Virginia, and an MBA degree from Harvard University Graduate School of Business where he was a Baker Scholar.

Hospitals and healthcare hold personal significance for JC. He recalls the “difficult yet wonderful memories from the first year of life for our twins, who were born prematurely. We had incredible, dedicated, professional care from the hospital staff during the long stay and many follow-up visits.”

A fan of music, JC enjoys writing, playing and listening to new tunes. His family enjoys beach vacations along the Massachusetts shore or at more distant tropical locales.
